Where Healing Begins

Close your eyes. Say your name and address out loud.  In the time it took you to accomplish that, an innocent child was victimized by abuse or neglect.  If you think such unspeakable deeds don’t happen in your neighborhood, then you are dead wrong.

Right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, abused children are brought to the CAC/NEPA every day.  Accessible to whoever needs help 24/7 the CAC/NEPA is where the mending begins.  Children can speak of the unimaginable in a safe environment.

Often experiencing shame, fear, and guilt, these children undeniably need the time, love and special treatment they receive at the CAC/NEPA to begin their healing process and keep the trauma from having a lasting effect on their lives.

A private, nonprofit charitable organization, the CAC/NEPA is the designated child abuse center for Lackawanna County.  In addition, the CAC/NEPA supports cases referred by Luzerne, Wayne, Pike, Monroe, Carbon, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties.  The center also provides an array of child abuse prevention programs and education to professionals and communities served.  The CAC/NEPA coordinates a multidisciplinary team response to each case, acting as the neutral agent and central contact point for treating, tracking and referral to resources as needed.  Children in the midst of emotional turmoil require immediate and undivided attention.  They do not need to be shuttled from place to place. We are making a difference in the life and safety of our community.  You too can make a difference in the life of a child.  Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today.  www.cacnepa.org  1710 Mulberry St., Scranton, PA. 18510.  If you have any questions please call 570-969-7313.  Your gift can help us continue to offer these services to children victimized by abuse.  If you suspect child abuse call Childline at 1-800-932-0313
